Mahroo Movahedi is a visual artist from Isfahan, Iran. She received her Bachelor and MFA from Iran in Painting and Master Transdisciplinary Art from (ZHDK) Zurich University of the Arts in Switzerland.
She is the winner of the Young Art Award 2016 from Galerie Ute Barth in Zurich and has participated and exhibited in several solo and group exhibitions in Iran and Switzerland throughout her career.
She uses different mediums painting, printmaking and photography, video installations, films as medium for her artworks, which usually helps her to develop new ideas.
By moving to Switzerland, she has entered the interdisciplinary art fields, which has opened a new chapter in her work.Mahroo explores themes of culture, landscape and language, questioning the notion of identity and sense of belonging.The audiovisual elements of her work shift in the forms of documentary-experimental style.Mahroo movahedi is concerned with the representation of the self and the other through the lens of her experience of living in and between different spaces, cultures and languages.
